My next submission for the 100 Challenge. Easily my saddest. I'm sad just typing this.
This is my steer, Boon. He's a Charolais/Brahman/Angus (Charolais/Brangus or something) cross. I believe he's around 15 months old. I've gotten quite attached to him, and he's going to be sold at our county fair in April, to be slaughtered.
I went into this project knowing what would happen, but I never expected to get really attached to him. I never even thought you could get attached to a cow, but I'm doing the Steer Showmanship with him, so I had to bond with him, atleast enough to be able to drag him around the show arena. It's now to the point where I'll be holding his lead rope, or he'll be tied up, and he licks my face. (Gross, but cute.)
He used to be horrible. He's run me over, and kicked me. No one could even get near him. In this picture, I used no zoom, I was literally right in his face with the camera, and he just stood there. We have a little less than 2 months before fair, and we still have a long way to go.
I really will miss him. I think this picture shows his personality. He certainly is my sacrifice.
The lead rope snap is annoying, but I don't think it ruins the picture.
I'm finished rambling.

as much as it does hurt it is a part of showing a steer....my chapter does it as well.....my best friend just recently had to give up his show anugus heifer pearl and our friend kaleb had to sell his shorthorn steer boom to slaughter.......it's sad yes but it's life
